Great Piece of Architecture: Fallingwater Building: Frank Lloyd Wright
This is the Fallingwater Building by Frank Lloyd Wright, easily my favourite architect, shortly followed by Gaudi.
I'm an avid fan of all the principles that he works with, particularly organic architecture. I cringe when I hear architects or interior designers say "I wanted to erase all boundaries between the exterior and interior". I don't believe this is possible, but I do believe that to a large extent a building can be designed to complement its' site. Frank Lloyd Wright is the master when it comes to designing buildings that become part of the landscape... buildings that grow from their landscape.
Best Piece of Creative Work: HSC Major Art Work
This was my Major HSC Artwork completed over the course of 2011. It's an appropriation of George Seurat's Sunday Afternoon of the Island of La Grande Jatte (Click to see the original work: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Georges_Seurat_-_Un_dimanche_apr%C3%A8s-midi_%C3%A0_l'%C3%8Ele_de_la_Grande_Jatte.jpg) and his colour theory of pointillism, using the quirky medium of plastic bottle caps... The work was 4m2 in total and involved over 3000 bottle caps and 250 sticks of hot glue. I called it Pointildsm: Drinking to Seurat.
